HoT, hOt, HOT!

Summer in Charleston = HOT and HUMID
98° feels like 104°

The heat is not the worst part.  It's the heaviness of the air.  The humidity.
Not the best time of year to traipse around the downtown area.

However

We have some company.
Company that has never been to Charleston.

So traipse we did!

And we got real, real hot...

I did what any self-respecting southerner would do!

I put the kids in the fountain!

That is called "southern hospitality"!

Clearly, Mia is enjoying herself!

Seriously.

This kid enjoyed herself!

It was so much fun to watch!

Claire is enjoying a week long visit with her China cousin, Mia!
And mom is enjoying a week long visit with Mia's mom!!!

And now you know why there isn't much to read on here these days.
But, I'll be back soon!

I Got Served!

Breakfast in bed by 7 very cute kids!

'Cause it was my birthday, of course!

I had a significant birthday a few days ago.
Significant is the grown up word for
now-I-am-officially-too-old-to-tell-my-age!

Only I don't really care if you know.

Because it is really no big deal that I celebrated my ummmm.......
40th the 1st anniversary of my 39th birthday!

There, I said it.
Well, it isn't exactly like anyone is going to believe that I'm 29 anymore.

The husband arrange breakfast in bed {he's the best}, homemade cards {seriously, the best}, and a little surprise get together for lunch after church {did I mention that my husband is a real gem}.  And by surprise, I mean that he didn't tell me until one hour before we had to leave the house for church that there would be people coming over after church.  Thank goodness he was able to rally the troops into action and get the downstairs presentable.  Heck, thank goodness there were troops to rally!  Or I might have had a little bit of panic for my birthday.  Instead, I just relaxed.  He had it all under control....well, at least the kids did!

And, I got to spend the day with some of my favorite people!
Like my niece, Brooke!

Like these two angels clowns!

And these two clowns angels!

Brianna and Christian

And my children.
Lizzie was not able to come, but she did call!

Triple Trouble!

I have twins.  Twins are good.  My twins are friends. {she says in Dr. Seuss sing-song voice}

Yeah, it's that kinda day....just go with it!

And if I ever wondered what it would be like to have triplets.....I get to pretend once a year!

When Megan comes to town and the twins of terror become a triple threat

They don't ever let a little thing like being born 8 days apart......in different cities.....from different mothers, get in the way of the triplet thing they have going on!

What does it matter that they are actually cousins?

Two is good....three is better.  That's their motto!

Triplets wreak much more havoc!

And therefore, have much more fun!

Nice that Megan knows how to hang with the boys.

Because she is totally out-numbered.....

Or is she?

On second thought...
I'm not sure they stand a chance!

Triple the trouble?

Or thrice the fun?

Talented, terrific, tenacious, talkative.
  Noah, Megan and Parker
Triplets

Only, not really!

Better Late than Never?

So, this is my July 4th post!  HAHAHAHA!  It's a little late.  What's ten days among friends, right? And, that would indicate just how busy my summers are and why I am usually pretty happy when it's time to start school again!

Anyway, we had a great Fourth! Because we still had our visitors!  We went to church and then we did what no self-respecting Charlestonian would do on a holiday weekend.....we went to the beach!  Why wouldn't we have normally enjoyed our beloved beaches on a Sunday afternoon?  On the Fourth of July?

Because we aren't crazy, that's why!   Everybody knows that EVERYBODY will be at the beach.  On the Fourth of July.  People come from all over to go to the beach.  Because apparently that is the place to be.  On the Fourth of July!  And we are not that crazy!

Only, apparently we are.  CRAZY!  With a capital C-R-A-Z-Y!  Because we went to the beach.  And we pulled up a picnic table to enjoy our watermelon and Izzy and Chips and Brownies and Sandwiches!

And then we were just nuts enough to venture over the dunes to this!  Do you see this?  Do you have any idea just how many people thought it would be a good idea to go to the beach today?  Let me tell you!  About a kabillionzilliongillion.  And that was just in the 100 yards that is the county park, y'all!

But, we did.  Go over the dunes.  And we did find a little plot of sand  about 10 feet square.  Which we shared  with each other..... and about 10,000 other nut jobs!  Thank goodness for life guards, but we needed some sanity guards!

And we called it fun in the sun!

And guess what?

We'd do it all again!

Because spending time with family anywhere is better than not!

Even on an extremely crowded-beyond-belief beach!

We managed to have a wonderful day!

We got sandy!

We called it exfoliation.

We got salty.
We called that exfoliation too.

We got some sun.
We called that getting our vitamin D.

It was almost like being at a spa.....except with ten thousand other people!

And like I said, I wouldn't have traded that day for anything....except maybe a private beach plot!

Just sayin'
