What it looks like....

When we go camping!  4 families, 4 days and a load of fun!

Where do we go?  Upstate SC- Lake Jocasse, Table Rock, Caesars Head.  Beautiful and peaceful foothills with lakes, creeks, waterfalls and trails!

In what do we camp?  Why, our trusty pop-up, of course!  Which was a blessing given to us by some church friends about 5 years ago.  We have used it for four of these homeschool camping trips!  It isn't anything special....except that it's special to us because it was a gift.  But, our group covers all the bases.  One family tent camps, we have the pop-up, another family has an older self-contained camper and the other families has the newer self-contained camper!

Who goes camping?  Four homeschooling families......8  parents with 16 kids ranging in age from 3 to 20!  The youngest ones crack me up the most! These two imps are always into something!

Claire with her buddy, Natalie.

Too big HAMS is what they are!

Isabel with Abby and Stephanie make up another age group.

There is only a little drama around camp with these three pre-tweens!  They are all 8 or 9, going on 16!

The next grouping of kiddos has a little less drama.
A little less.

Poor Tori ended up struck in this group of boys!
She's sort of half way between the middle girls and the older boys.
Stuck!

 Tim

Parker

Noah

The oldest group of kids never seemed to be around when my camera was... wonder if that was planned?  I got this candid of sweet Lydia doing a drawing of the lake.  And Madelyn doing Abby's hair...not that you can see Maddy or anything.  You'll just have to take my word for it, there were 7 older teens.

What do we do on our camping trips?

Make beef jerky!

 Tell fishing stories!
It was thaaaaaaaat big!

Look really, really cute!

 And canoe, of course!

Well, after last years *incident* I don't canoe.  I photograph canoers {is that even a word?}.  I don't have extra shoes to wear if the canoe decides to detour into the rocky shore again and dump it's contents {me} into the lake! I'm good right here on shore thankyouverymuch!

We also do a bit of hiking!  This years hike involved splitting into two groups.....one to take the short route and one to take the long route.  Let's just say that the long route turned out to be longer than anyone thought it should be....including the park ranger that had to go in and find them after dark!

Some of us hike more than others.....

Some of us find ourselves monkey-ing around in trees!

But, when you are this cute, you can get away with it!

And sometimes, you just have to stop and .....smell the roses swing from vines!

Because that is called, having fun!

Lest you think vine swinging is only for the young baboon....

Exhibit C!

Apparently, vine swinging is popular with all ages!

Four great families!
Four wonderful days!
