Better Late than Never?

So, this is my July 4th post!  HAHAHAHA!  It's a little late.  What's ten days among friends, right? And, that would indicate just how busy my summers are and why I am usually pretty happy when it's time to start school again!

Anyway, we had a great Fourth! Because we still had our visitors!  We went to church and then we did what no self-respecting Charlestonian would do on a holiday weekend.....we went to the beach!  Why wouldn't we have normally enjoyed our beloved beaches on a Sunday afternoon?  On the Fourth of July?

Because we aren't crazy, that's why!   Everybody knows that EVERYBODY will be at the beach.  On the Fourth of July.  People come from all over to go to the beach.  Because apparently that is the place to be.  On the Fourth of July!  And we are not that crazy!

Only, apparently we are.  CRAZY!  With a capital C-R-A-Z-Y!  Because we went to the beach.  And we pulled up a picnic table to enjoy our watermelon and Izzy and Chips and Brownies and Sandwiches!

And then we were just nuts enough to venture over the dunes to this!  Do you see this?  Do you have any idea just how many people thought it would be a good idea to go to the beach today?  Let me tell you!  About a kabillionzilliongillion.  And that was just in the 100 yards that is the county park, y'all!

But, we did.  Go over the dunes.  And we did find a little plot of sand  about 10 feet square.  Which we shared  with each other..... and about 10,000 other nut jobs!  Thank goodness for life guards, but we needed some sanity guards!

And we called it fun in the sun!

And guess what?

We'd do it all again!

Because spending time with family anywhere is better than not!

Even on an extremely crowded-beyond-belief beach!

We managed to have a wonderful day!

We got sandy!

We called it exfoliation.

We got salty.
We called that exfoliation too.

We got some sun.
We called that getting our vitamin D.

It was almost like being at a spa.....except with ten thousand other people!

And like I said, I wouldn't have traded that day for anything....except maybe a private beach plot!

Just sayin'

Oh. My. GOSH! That's a LOT of people on that there beach! I'm sure glad they all went to Charleston instead of Hilton Head because I'm not sure I would have gotten in the water with that many folks floatin' around.
