10...9....8

7...6...5...4...3...2...1....no I'm not counting down until our vacation is over. Although, sadly, it is coming to a quick end.

I counted down in honor of the place that takes counting down to a whole new level.

In an effort to squeeze in one more day of school on this vacation, we visited The Kennedy Space Center.



It was a day packed with rockets and and robots. A simiulation lift-off was the highlight of the day....at least for the boys. Isabel almost had a nervous break down prior to lift-off. However, she wanted to ride again once it was over!



Claire got lots of walking in and kept up very well! She insisted on walking as much as possible, "'cause walking makes me happy, Mom!".





They experienced this hands-on field trip in many ways.

Yes, my little astronauts even got to experience a little soda at lunch...and it wasn't even all-natural. Sorry Bruce, it was that vile Pep*si product! Apparently, you do not have a contract with NASA.

Some little known (at least to me) facts....


This is the tallest 1 story building in the world.
It is where they put the shuttles together...you know, some assembly required!
Those things one the side are garage doors! It takes 45 minutes to open them!


This is the largest painted flag.
The stars are 6ft from point to point and the stripes are 8 ft wide.





And we are so special that we got to go right up to one of the lauch pads!

An observation deck this far away is as close as we got. Gotta love camera zoom!






It was a great family day

Imagine my pride when Isabel declared that she wanted to be an astrounaut one day! And, then picture my crash to reality when during the IMAX prsentation she took one look at the female astrounaut in her jumpsuit, and exclaimed, "NEVER MIND about being an astrounaut, because I am not wearing THAT!"


Maybe she can just be the fashion designer for NASA.

OBVIOUSLY they need a new one!
