Hotel Gour: Part II Birthday Version!

So, I guess you guys have been dying to get another post about what we did all summer long. Right?
Yeah, that's what I thought. Well, you're getting it anyway. Because, guess what. We had a couple of Birthday Girls hanging around this summer!  So we had to celebrate Gour style, don'tchaknowit!

Isabel and Mia, born on the same day.....just six years apart! In different countries. So who knows what that really means with the time zone differences and all?

We had our customary breakfast-n-bed for the girls.

Well, it isn't actually in bed, so much as it was served at Isabel's palate on the floor....in the boys room. Which just happens to be where she slept the entire month of July. Happily!

Sweet Mia with her sweet roll....a little confused about all this food in the bedroom! And so early in the mornin' too!
This was just the precursor to our birthday dinner later in the day. We filled the day with a basketball game and a trip to the pool if memory serves me correct. And then enjoyed a lovely messy dinner of baked ziti and CAKE!

Doesn't she wear it well?  I mean what good is eating baked ziti if you can't really get into it!  Right?

Beautiful Mia turned 3!

And Isabel, also beautiful,  turned 9!

NINE!  That is one year away from double digits, y'all!  How can my girl be getting so big and so old? Where does the time go? Having her birthday with Mia just reminded me of what it was like when she was so little!

And Mia just happens to be SO. STINKIN'. CUTE!

See what I mean?

I so wish I'd gotten video of this. I laughed so hard everytime she said it.  I'm not saying where she learned to this phrase {thankyouverymuchbeccagulke}!  But it is too cute to hear a prissy, dressed up three year old with attitude saying it!

A girl and her favorite things:  Elmo and tutus!

Isabel was lucky enough to have had an Iceskating party the weekend before with cousins and friends galore! I'd love to show you all the highlights from that wonderous event.  But, I can't.  Blogger and Picasa and I are having some issues.  Namely, I can't upload anymore pictures to this blog until I pay for more storage.  Boo Hiss!  But, I guess I'll be breaking down and doing that today because they have me over a barrel here, folks!  And, plus the hubby said to just do it before I get a headache trying to figure out a way around it.  Which I'm pretty sure there isn't.

The happy birthday princess!

Surrounded by best friends and cousins!

Christian's first time was a big hit!

Look Mom, NO HANDS!

And clearly, Claire's still got it
As you can see, she is just as talented at skating now as she was back in the winter when she graced the ice for the first time!

Recognize that beauty on the left?  Yep, that would be Darling Daughter from over at Not a Significant Source.  She visited again this year for the better part of the week and managed to make herself one of Claire's all time favorite buddies ever!

And, she makes a great skating partner too!

Jordan and Maggie having a good time!

The special cake!

Special God sister!

And my beautiful girl at the center of it all!

She had a great birthday and she is thankful to all the friends and family that came and enjoyed it with her!

XXII

Isabel has been ice skating for three weeks....
and not to brag or anything,
'cause that would just not be nice,
but she is a total PRODIGY!

That's right.

My Baby got moved up!
She is now in Basic II.
Basic II, y'all!
Not to be confused with Basic I.
Because, Basic I so....so... beginner you know.

And Basic II is so.....er.....um.....almost intermediate.
Duh!

And so clearly she is headed to the XXII Winter Olympics!

Okay, so maybe I won't book our flights to Sochi.

Yet.

But she is lovin' this new activity!  And she did get moved up because she is ahead of the other Basic I students.  Only too bad for her, there isn't a Basic II class right now.  So, Miss Andrea, who graduated homeschool by-the-way and is sooo sweet and a great teacher, is going to teacher the Basic II moves during Basic I class while the other kiddos continue on with Basic I.

And because Isabel is such a sweet and humble child,
I'm sure there won't be any attitude!
I'll never have to worry about looking out over the ice and seeing my child showing off.....or ummm....I don't know, acting like a diva because she is getting special treatment!

Ahem.

Note to self:  Teach humble attitude before next Friday!

Dancing the Night Away

This post is also called:  The Best Daddies In The World

Because that is what it takes to attend a Father-Daughter Dance!  This night has been a long time coming in Isabel's opinion.  In fact, the last one she attended was in 2007, I believe.  Not because a particular Daddy didn't want to take her, but because said Daddy's work schedule called him to Indiana for a sales meeting each year ....on that date.  Thankfully the two functions did not collide this year! Because I'm not sure Paul could have handled one more year of guilt.  You know how those little girls can pile it on, and all they really have to do is look up at you with those sad puppy eyes, full to the brim with an un-shed tear.  Last year he had to take her to an expensive Italian restaurant to make up for it!  An Italian restaurant he hasn't even taken me too yet!

Whatever.

Daddy with his two little princesses!

Isabel ready for her special night.  Oh, isn't she beautiful?  Yes, I spent an hour curling her hair this afternoon.  What?  Her hair isn't curly?  No kidding!  That would be because SHE CHANGED HER MIND.  Oh, yes she did.  And I?  I spent an hour straightening it too!  And, poor child.  She lost another tooth.  In the front.  Fell right out in the middle of the night....'cause you know this kid doesn't pull her own teeth no. matter. how. loose.  So she has a very holey mouth for these pictures.  Still cute!

Claire declined to pose for her picture.  She "hates wearing a dress!".  And so, you know.  That was fun.

This year he tag-teamed with two other dads.  'Cause you know....safety in numbers, right?  Three dads and 5 daughters in one Ford Excursion.  I would have loved being a fly on that rear view mirror!  Incidentally, my husband drooled all over our friend's truck......because that is his dream familymobile right now.  Sorry Stacy and Steve.  The man can't help himself, what can I say?

The Gang!

Clearly, Daddy's photography skillz are lacking in this area.  But, at least I can tell that the kids were having a blast!  And, at least he took pictures at all.  I know a few dads with less than thrilled wives due to the lack of phototagiousness going on.  No, that is not even a word, people!

I was a little worried about Claire.  She didn't really want to go. Besides the whole "I hate dresses!" thingy.....she asked questions that made it clear that she was stressing about this event.  Things like "what if I get lost from Daddy?"  We talked a lot about how things would go so she would feel more comfortable.  But, it was just one of those things she was going to have to experience before she'd fully understand that it was fun.  And clearly, she got the point!  I was so glad to see that happy smile!

And, she hung out with friends other than her sister!  Friends like Stephanie here.

And her buddy Grace from Our Red Thread Journey!  I'm not sure where Moli is, but I have a handful of pictures of Claire and Grace dancing!

Dancing The Night Away!

And while this was going on, Stacy (mom to two of the daughters in the gang) and I took our boys out to eat and then hung out waiting on the return of our daughters and hubbies.  Then about 8:30 Stacy gets a text from her hubby.

Steve:  How long do we have to stay???
Stacy:  Until the bitter end!
Steve:  But the food is all gone!

And now we know why they go!

The trouble with teeth....

Is that this one has trouble loosing them!

They wiggle and waggle and get loosey goosey.
But they don't. fall. out.
Of course, she doesn't actually try to get them out either!

So, she hasn't' actually lost that many teeth yet.
As a matter of fact,
 some of her permanent teeth
simply gave up on her ever pulling the baby teeth,
 and grew in behind them!

Now she has two rows of teeth....kinda like a shark....only different
'CAUSE IT'S MY DAUGHTER!

I beg!  I plead!
I'm ashamed to admit it....okay, I'm not really,
but I should be, because I've even been known to offer a bribe, y'all!

She won't bite pull!

Daddy decided to take matters into his own hands.

Oh yes he did!

Much to someone's dismay.

And that produced much drama.
Weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Is that a tear I see?  No?

A dangling tooth really must come out!

And, it did!

Two days later, she lost the baby tooth to right of that big ole front tooth.
Sucked it right out of her head while doing her Math!

See, math is dangerous!

The other trouble with teeth....

Is that if you are related to me in any way.....

You are going to need braces!

Guess what that means?

Yep.  Twin boys that look like their Mama = two in braces this year!

We had some impressions taken a few days ago.
You know, so we could see the damage up close.
Because that is what every Mama wants, right?
To see what their gene pool has caused!

Pray for us y'all!
Isabel has two more loose teeth.

Plus also, I had the fabulous luck to come across a joke site that had this for the title of a joke list:

 And, now I'm worried!
