Alligator and Lobster

Just when you thought it was safe to come back to my blog. That all the boring vacation posts would be over. HA! I've got several more up my sleeve.....or some where like that.

Anyway, I enjoy reliving our fabulous time at the beach and, well, it's my blog, so I can. Our condo...bythewaydidItellyouhowfabulousourcondowas? No? Fabulous is the word of the day! Our condo was FAB-U-LOUS! 1000 count Egyptian cotton sheets, jacuzzi tub, sunsets over the Halifax River. Well, maybe you always sleep on 1000 count sheets, but I live in middle class world. And, we buy our sheets at Target. 500count tops. And we don't get new ones until there are holes in the old ones. So it was FABULOUS! Got that. here's a peek at the luxury we feasted on.

The lovely great room, where we watched Little House on the Prairie episodes until the wee hours of the night....or 11pm, whichever came first!

This is where my cherubs rested their sleepy heads every night. There were pull out trundles under each twin, so all the kids were contained in one area of the house able to be together!

The Master bedroom! Ummmm, could there be anymore pillows? For the full effect you need to know that I had to take a flying leap to actually get on that bed for my evening slumber. Nothing says vacation like a little exercise before bed! But do you see how luxurious it is? Do You?

Jacuzzi tub where we enjoyed many a bubble bath after a day in the sun and surf. How many people do you know have a bathroom big enough for rug like that? Huh? That is what I want to know! Don't answer that if you know a few, because apparently I am not that special.

And, the sunset from our balcony every single night!

So, I guess you are wondering what I did to deserve such an amazing get away. Well, I am me. And.......that has nothing to do with it. If you remember, a few months back we attended a fund raiser for Half The Sky Foundation. For those that are not familiar, Half The Sky funds programs for orphans in China. It was a silent auction and we had a tax refund in the bank. Hubby opened the bidding on a week in this condo and low-and-behold, if we didn't win the bid. The family that owns the condo does not ever rent it out, they just use it for charity. We were so blessed to have been able have that vacation. It was so much more than we ever could have afforded to enjoy and it was something I had always, always wanted to do. But, when you live so close to a beach anyway, it just doesn't seem right to spend our small vacation budget on a beach house. It was everything I dreamed it would be though and all the kids and Paul too, had a blast! We loved walking to the beach everyday and staying there for hours and then jumping straight into the pool for a while before running upstairs for baths. We spent a lot of time in pjs too!
Anyway, the condo came complete with a guest notebook created by the owners of the condo. Inside the notebook was a plethora of information all about the area. Things to do, places to see and most importantly, where to eat local! Armed with suggestions, we ventured out one night to a local hot spot and found why it was recommended. Aunt Catfish's is now our favorite joint in the Daytona area. Of course, due to budget restrictions, it is also the only place we ate out at! But whatever!
We encourage the children to try new things. Parker and Noah decided to try lobster.....just in different ways!

Yeah, Isabel is not so much into new things. She stuck with her tried and true, fried shrimp.

Don't you just adore that gap-tooth look she has going on??? Don't you?

This is a video of Claire enjoying Parker's order of Alligator. Funny thing is, this is probably not the first time she's eaten alligator.....or possibly something even more adventurous! And, now that you've seen the video, you see what proud parents we are. Clearly we need to work on manners!! I tell you what, you can dress um up, and you can take um out....but you can not make them eat their alligator like a lady.........apparently!

If you are wondering. No, that is not the end of my vacation reminiscing! There is more to come. I know you are on the edge of your seats now, right?

Whatever.

And yes, I am doing something different with my blog again. So, bear with me while I sort it out. I like to tinker and I got some instructions on making my two column a three column and wanted to toy with Html for the fun of it.....doesn't everybody?

love this!! OH yeah baby that master bed is stinking AWESOME!!! A flying leap. . .lol I would have needed stilts. lol and 1000 thread count. *sigh* That sounds amazing. And makes me remember I am kind of due for new sheets.(of the 400 or so variety. lol) I can hear the kid report, "what did you do on vacation?" "oh, I ate some alligator. . . and watched mama pole vault into her mountain high bed every night." lol

That bed looked like Meme's.... but cousionier, and possibly bigger because of said cousionierness.
I've had alligator before. I'm like Is, and new things are not usually enjoyable, but I ate alligator.... and it did taste like chicken, but chewier, I must say. And in case you were wondering, though I know you probably weren't, the song they were playing at the resturant in the background is Taylor by Jack Johnson. :)
Glad you are having a good time. Send my love, and my smiles! :D
