Beautiful Life

Hey child up and go; A big world is out there waiting for us to live in every day. Outside you will find, there is love all around you; Takes you, makes you wanna' say; That it's a beautiful life and it's a beautiful world and it's a beautiful time to be here, to be here, to be here. -Fisher

It wasn't

It wasn't exactly a night to remember.  I do tend to down-play Halloween.....not because of some deep-seeded religious issues.  I do have some issues, but not enough to keep the kiddos from having some fun at Halloween.  I think I down-play it because of all the holidays to get excited about....well, this isn't my favorite.  At. All.  For several reasons.  The whole thing revolves around candy.  Candy and I have a conflict of interest.  I like my kids to be healthy and cavity free....candy doesn't care about those things.  Plus, I hate orange.  I can't get into a holiday centered around orange and black.  Yuck!

But alas, the girls do like to dress up and boy are they cute!  And my sensory loving self, does like to carve a pumpkin every now and then!  So this year we did the pumpkins, we did the dress-up, the girls did five houses in the neighborhood and we took them to a "Trunk or Treat" at a local church.  It wasn't exactly a night to remember, but they did have fun.  They also got a small load of candy.  Which I am letting them eat.  At least for a few days....and then it will mysteriously disappear!

Pumpkins!

I got two.  The girls shared one and worked together.

 It was Claire's first pumpkin!

The boys each carved one side of a pumpkin......it was two-faced!  Get it?

Claire was a little grossed-out!

 Isabel loves gross!

So of course.....oh, yes she did!

She picked the puking pumpkin!

Fairies!

Did you ever see more beautiful, more colorful, more goofy fairies than this?
I think not!

Fun!

I have to say that the jump castle was the surprise favorite of the night.  Claire has never gotten to do one before.....because guess what jump castles don't allow?  Shoes.  No shoes, no braces = no jumping or standing for a little girl with no muscle tone.  And they are usually crowded with little tikes that would jump all over a wee little fairy princess.  But, not at this castle.  At this castle, she was allowed in with just her sister while all other jumpers waited in the wings!  I nearly cried when the woman said she'd do that.  I didn't even ask, she just heard me telling Claire what it would be like if she went in with all those other children.

So, her first jump castle was a big success!

Thanks for sharing how much fun your family had at the Fall Festival. It made my night. I was especially touched by Claire's opportunity to jump in the jump castle.
I feel the same way you do about that holiday and had reservations about even having a festival. I'm so glad we did. God did some amazing things last night.

So glad I got to see the pumpkins. We were a little slack this year. Not that I didn't intend to do them...um..time just got away from me?? Perhaps~ I also loved hearing how Claire and Isabel got to go into the jump castle. It is great to see sisters having fun like that and the way that they look at each other reminds me of Sarah and Morgan! What a blessing!
